Gum Disease Therapy
Gum (periodontal) disease is a bacterial infection that affects up to 80% of the population. Left untreated, periodontal disease can cause gum, bone, and tooth loss and may compromise overall health. Dr. Abramovitz offers comprehensive therapies to eliminate the symptoms of gum disease and restore healthy smiles.
Early stage gum disease, called gingivitis, causes few or no symptoms. Your gums may appear red and swollen or bleed when you brush. We treat gingivitis with a deep cleaning to remove tartar and plaque at ad below the gum line and to eliminate the source of the infection. Advanced cases of gum disease often respond well to antibiotic therapy. If your gum disease is severe, Dr. Abramovitz may suggest removal of the infected tissue. She will assess your gums, then tailor a treatment plan for your unique needs.
